Males & Females — Both Make Wonderful Companions
A few honest notes to help you choose, from years of placing both.
Why Our Males Are So Loved
Male dachshunds are often described as deeply affectionate and people-oriented — they love to be close, follow their person from room to room, and form fast, devoted bonds. Many families who set out wanting a female end up falling for one of our boys instead.

What About Females?
Females are just as wonderful, and are often described as intelligent, independent and confident — happy doing things on their own schedule, with a slightly more self-possessed streak. Every dog is an individual, and there are exceptions to every rule.

Personality, temperament and the right match matter far more than whether your puppy is a boy or a girl.
A Note on Neutering & Marking
Neutering commonly reduces hormone-driven behaviours like marking, roaming and mounting in male dogs, though it isn't a guarantee on its own — training still matters. A neutered male dachshund can be just as clean and well-mannered as a female.
Breeder tip: early neutering (before 12 months) may increase the risk of IVDD (spinal disc disease) in dachshunds. Please discuss timing with your vet before scheduling.
